Heswall & Hoylake Group of Friends for Cancer Research UK is a local fundraising group set up in 2012 in memory of a wonderful friend, Carly Harper. Carly died in May last year along with her baby boy. The group was set up by her friends as a way of dealing with the loss and so far we have raised over £4,000 for Cancer Research. We have held various fundraising activities over the last year including bag packing and collections at local supermarkets. Our first big event was a concert at Heswall Hall last November showcasing local musical acts. This event also raised money for Help for Heroes in honour of Carly’s brother who serves in the army. This evening was a huge success and we really hope the Christmas fair will be equally successful. Christmas was not Carly’s favourite time of year, but she always tried her best to make it a special time for those around her.
