Do not believe all you hear, funding is the issue. Most things are Pie in the Sky but maybe 2014 could provide a bit more, and the Residents as always will do their best.

Do you remember the lovely Christmas tree on Market Street by Cable Road that Hoylake UDC used to put up every year? It went along with most things once Wirral MBC took over. The Hoylake Pool & Community Trust provided one for a while too.

Good luck to Jackie and all those trying to revitalise 'the village'!

With money so tight I guess the expected return of The Open in 2014 will provide the only leverage with the Council and funding bodies such as NWDA over the next few years. Last time at the end of the day all that was done was a few hundred yards of public realm improvements. Very lovely as these are they should have been the start of something much bigger and I do not get the impression that the 'station gateway' or promenade upgrades are coming anytime soon. And how about the Hoylake golf resort?

The same thing happened here in the town I live in now, north of the border. The Council no longer provided Christmas lights. All the local businesses formed a group putting in x amount and last year the town had quite a nice display. This year the local Council, after much cajoling, matched the amount raised pound for pound and this year we have an even better display. It can be done!

Keith.
The Council no longer do the lights.
Perhaps you would like to organise a group to raise at least £5,000 for next years lights, and try to do better.
Hopefully there will be an article in next weeks Wirral News explaining the situation.
West Kirby have none.
