Correct Ian, the Arcade was demolished to build 4 shops and offices, however due to a loophole in the Planning Laws, he was able, without going back to planning!!!to change it to 4 flats above.
It is awful and near the Road, No shops opened yet!!!Planning refused for a take away in the one next to the Blue Anchor.

Ouch, what is that ugly building on the left, very close to the road? Is that the replacement for the Horn Arcade/Kingsway Garage?

the 'Blue' Anchor became a bit of a popular target to re-paint in the night. I have seen it Pink and Red. Funny the first time then I think it bacame a bit tedious.

I believe the Anchor was given to the Sea cadets for their HQ, although my memory may not be 100% correct, it was certainly offered to them.

I think it was sold when a previous landlord took over several years ago, might have gone to "The Anchor" in Irby, not too sure, i too remember playing on it in the 50`s and 60`s, pity it was moved.

It took my niece 8 hours to drive home Widnes to Saughall Massie yesterday afternoon, she is grateful to all the "Hoodies" standing near the tunnel entrance in L`Pool that helped both her and other motorists by pushing the cars that were stuck, well done boys.

Here in Edinburgh it has been snow and ice for 3 weeks and it's getting tedious!

This photo has prompted me to ask whatever happened to the blue anchor outside the pub of the same name? It always fascinated me as a kid. Does anyone know?
