I wonder if that’s a younger Gary Bird. I suspect the Gary Bird that Charles Morris is asking about might now be beyond the age fro active lifeboat service.
There was a Gary Bird around when I was a teenager and I’m now 70. It would be interesting to know maybe he’s a grandson in Blackpool?

I think Gary Bird has moved and now is on the crew of Blackpool Lifeboat.

In Hoylake Library (does it still exist?) they used to have the minutes of the old Hoylake and West Kirby Urban District Council, dating back ot the beginning of the twentieth century. Before the First World War, there were many entries for Jesse Bird being paid for haulage for road construction and repair: so as well as all the other work mentioned here, he was also responsbile for building Market Street………..

Hi Keith
How proud you must be to have Jesse as your grandad. I recall his removal company moving us from Wallasey to Bidston in 1964 and from Bidston to Meols in 1966. I lived in Hoylake for many years and my husband grew up in Newton rd, went to Market St. school etc. His Dad grew up in Lee Rd.
Do you still live in Hoylake? i know many on this site are like me and have moved away.
I’ve moved house many times in my life, but never with the expertise that Jess Bird co. brought to the job.

hi, my mother was a Broster born in the farm House next door to Jesse Bird, were Syd Bird lived I believe. two of my Grandfathers Horses used to with Jesse Birds Horses, pull the Tractor down to the beach. Helen Carr.

My Gran was also born that year, 1897, funny if they knew each other, i will ask my Mum if she recognises your Grandmothers name.

re Jesse Bird- do we know for sure that Jessies Yard does refer to Jesse Bird. Jessie being female name and of course Jesse a mans. Maybe the builders/developers whatever of the apartments had heard the name but not seen it written??
Obviously I wasn’t teh only one who made the Jesse connection but are we correct. Fun if anyone who lives in Hoylake still could check it out.
