Friday Photo: Stewart ‘Tea-boy’ Kirk

Stewart Kirk

Many thanks to historian Huw Lewis-Jones at specialist publishing company Polarworld for granting me permission to republish the above photo/book cover taken by Nigel Millard. Nigel’s photo graces the cover of a new book from Polarworld entitled Face to Face: Ocean Portraits. The book is stocked by amazon.

The subject of the photo was I gather a Hoylake RNLI crew member called Stewart ‘tea-boy’ Kirk. All that I know of Stewart Kirk is that he was a crewman on Hoylake Lifeboat and the last RNLI shore attendant. Such a striking image – he certainly looks like a man of the seas. You’re bound to know more about Stewart Kirk, so please do leave comments below.

Nigel Millard may well be a familiar name with some of you as I understand that he has featured the Hoylake RNLI crew in other publications.
