We’ve previously discussed the spartina grass that is growing strongly down on Hoylake beach. If you don’t know what it is, here’s a photo of it taken last September. It’s not a new problem though as the above press cutting from 1965 indicates. Vaughan Williams (Chairman, Hoylake Community Centre) sent me the article in which he is pictured spraying the spartina grass with a chemical. News of a forthcoming event at Hoylake Photographic Society Carol Tipping writes: A first on Wirral: an EPSON EVENT at Hoylake Photographic Society.The event will showcase the latest printers, drivers, scanners, home cinema projectors, inks and media. You will have the opportunity to try out the products during hands-on sessions, and print out your own images. Good to see that the model boating lake is still holding water! I’m only joking of course, the newly repaired boating lake should be fine for a few years yet. It’s currently just about as full as it could be – in fact I don’t think I’ve seen it so full. When it’s windy (that’ll be quite often then) the water in the lake can splash over the sides.
