Having A Big Lunch?

street partyThis Sunday, 19th July is the date for the nationwide Big Lunch project which aims to have neighbours around the UK have a street party in the afternoon. It’s the brainwave of the Eden Project founders and you can find out what it’s all about on the official Big Lunch site. On that site you can do a postcode search to see if any street parties have been organised where you live. Last time I checked there were a couple of parties being setup in and around Hoylake and West Kirby.

If you want to organise your own Big Lunch then you’ve probably left it too late to get permission to close your road, etc but I guess you could use front gardens, drives, etc.

The photo shown here isn’t of Hoylake, but a street party in Norwich – courtesy of the very informative and appropriately named Street Party site. If you do have any interesting memories/stories or photos of past Hoylake street parties then feel free to leave a comment or use this email address: news [at] hoylakejunction.com. Better still, if you participate in a Big Lunch event this Sunday do get in touch to let everyone know how it went.
