All proceeds raised from the run as in previous years will go towards the Soft Play Sensory Resource at Hoylake Community Centre, the resource which is run voluntary by the Wednesday Special Needs Club, is fundraised for and maintained by a small team of enthusiastic volunteers.
Entry is £9.00, first 600 runners on the day will receive a commemorative T-shirt, which this year are sponsored by a ‘well wisher’ thanks to TS.
The club would also like to thank Julie Ebbrell and staff from Runners Sports, Birkenhead Road for again sponsoring the run numbers.
This year Matt Heard will be taking part in this years 10K, Matt has a number of challenges, he is blind, has epilepsy and cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair regularly. However he is a fit young man of 24 who swims regularly, and can complete 1k on the treadmill in 30 minutes. Matt is very outgoing and sociable and is really looking forward to taking part in this years 10k and enjoying the support of the crowd.
Niall Murphy who is a volunteer with the Wednesday Special Needs Club will be running the first 9.5k and will then pass the baton to Matt who will complete the remaining half KM. Matt will be supported by his regular carer Sean (Niall’s dad) and Niall to the finish line.
Matt is very excited at taking part in the 10k, and is really hoping the crowd will encourage him and cheer him on to the finish line, this run is Matt’s Olympic for the year.
