If you were in Hoylake on Saturday morning you’ll have seen the volunteers tidying the tubs and flowers beds on “de-planting’ day.
Here is the latest news from Jan Foster at Hoylake & Meols In Bloom.
Planting day is 21st May
Fund raising garden party 11th June 12 until 4pm at 11 Ethelbert Lane, Meols
The bed in the parade gardens by the kiosk which is being prepared at the moment will be planted by us using funds raised from memberships, collection boxes, the garden party etc
The money we will be receiving from the seaside regeneration will create a sensory garden and pebble mosaic in another area of the park. more about this later.
The beds we planted in the parade gardens last year have all survived the winter and so far are surviving the drought. They look lovely.
We have already planted the summer bedding in the roundabout barrier baskets and will plant the tubs in the village on the 21st May.
We have planted some plants in the row and this will be tidied up on the 7th May.
Two tubs near the scout hut are to be planted by us this year and we are hoping to plant the new William and Catherine rose here when it becomes available in November.
We have some new helpers to do the filling of the reservoirs in the tubs so please be considerate if you see them around and about with hose pipes on the 14th may.
