Incredible Edible Hoylake

Rose Chandler (Hoylake Allotments) and Sally Scot are starting an interesting new project in and around Hoylake. Here’s the information behind Incredible Edible Hoylake.

“Incredible-Edible-Hoylake” is a new project to produce locally grown food.

We are passionate about food and recognise that it is something that brings us all together – we all need to eat but it also provides space for common ground for learning, playing and acting as a resilient, supportive, healthy community.

We are starting this new project inspired by Incredible Edible Todmorden in a Yorkshire town of Todmorden, with the aim of using unused land to enable people to grow their own food and to feed their own community.

We have started with herbs, some fruit and lettuces and intend to progress to other seasonal produce such as beans, courgettes and tomatoes.

Incredible Edible Hoylake has received lots of positive interest from a range of individuals and organizations including Merseyrail and Melrose Hall.

We’ve made a small start and …

We plan a public meeting in Melrose Hall in Hoylake on 23rd May 2011 at 7 pm.

We welcome volunteers to get involved and to help identify potential growing places, help with planting but also to bring other ideas about growing food locally.

Our eventual aim is a self sufficient and sustainable Hoylake.

We hope you will join us…
