News Roundup: 6th November, 2009

snow whiteSnow White

Pictured is local Kate Mellors who successfully auditioned for the leading role in Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, which is to be staged at the rebuilt Floral Pavillion in New Brighton this Christmas.

Kate, 19, who is also involved with the popular  Hoylake School Of Dance (site here), will start rehearsing for her first professional role at the start of December.

Bonfire

I saw the chaps down on the beach earlier today building the bonfire in readiness for the evenings event. Start time is approx 6.15pm this evening and don’t forget to take some money for donations to the RNLI appeal.

Shops Action Group

The next next meeting of the Shops Action Group (I’m not sure what the group have named themselves sorry) is on Tuesday, 10 November at 7.30 p.m. in Vanilla Lounge, Market Street. Feel free to go along if you would like to share your ideas and join in with the groups endeavours. Initially, the plan is to open up some of the empty shops for exhibitions, workshops, crafts, etc. in a similar way to other towns across the country. Esther McVey is to attend the meeting to provide information on formally constituting the group so that grants be applied for.

Parade Gardens

It hasn’t really been the weather for outdoor painting this week, but the decorators have dodged the rain to brush more magnolia on the boundary walls.

Lifeboat Memorial

I’d like to do a feature on the 1810 Memorial Fund that I read about in The Champion. If you know more about it, please do get in touch.

Digital Switchover

Well we had stage one of the digital switchover (see the comments on that post too) and I’m still getting BBC Wales 1 and 2 on channels 1 and 2. I have noticed that channels 800/801 are national BBC 1/2 so I just need to re-jig my TV at some point. How’s your television reception?

Newsletter Email Address

Well I keep threatening to do it and next Monday I really am going to switch the email newsletter (quite a few of you subscribe) to use this email address:

address

so please make sure that you’ve got that in your address book.

And you can use that email address to send me your news too 😉
