I often used to stand outside the box at an agreed time so my mother could talk to her brother in Uxbridge (doing the same public callbox trick – no one I knew had phones those days). Imagine our horror when we found someone already in the box having a long chat to a friend. We used to prowl around the box and glare at the poor caller!
