Crime
I have heard/received a couple of reports of burglaries in Hoylake recently. Children’s bikes have been stolen from garages and sheds in the area.
Last Thursday evening a Hoylake property was burgled  whilst the home owner was upstairs in bed. The burglar took several valuable items from the downstairs and seems to have gained entry to the property through a door that was on the latch – the burglar had obviously tried the door on chance. The police managed to apprehend the suspect entering a seperate property on Ferndale Road and all belongings were returned.
Bins
Hopefully all green bins will be finally emptied this week. It seems many Hoylake homes haven’t their green bins emptied since before Christmas.
Town Centre Reviews
Wirral Council is reviewing the state of shopping area across Wirral and as Hoylake is deemed as being in “particular need of support [as it is]  among the areas with the highest shop vacancy rates” an action plan for Market Street will be in the first batch of reports to be published.  Note that several new businesses have opened in the later half of 2010 in Hoylake and I believe that the old Culture shop will be reopening soon as a children’s tea room/learning centre.
The Rabbit of Hilbre
I bet most of you didn’t know that there’s a lonesome rabbit living on Hilbre Island? Well apparently there is and you can see a photo of the little fella by clicking here.
