Property on TV

hoyle road houseYou might have seen the BBC1 daytime property show Homes Under The Hammer (go on admit, you watched it when you had that snow day in December didn’t you!) ?

The show follows people who buy a property at auction and subsequently live in, sell on or rent out the property they successfully bid on.  Typically, the properties shown need a little bit of attention.

The property shown in the photo is located in Hoyle Road and it was sold at an auction this week for the sum of £195,000. Now there is a possibility that this property will be featured on TV because the production company were filming the auction for a forthcoming series of Homes Under The Hammer. If you’ve bought that house, please get in touch if you’ve agreed to be on the show.

New Off Licence

It looks like the closed Threshers off licence by Vanilla Lounge is now an off-licence called Hoylake Wines – is it open yet?

The Spotty Blue Teapot

A new, traditional children’s tea rooms and shop is coming soon to the old Culture shop in Market Street. I think that they are looking for staff too, though today might be the last day for applications. See their website for more information.

Competition Winner

Thanks to all of you who entered the competition last week to win a lovely, personalised bottle of bubbly from the generous publishers of Personalised Gifts. The lucky winner was Jennifer Triggs, who plans to save the Champagne for a family wedding later this year.

High Tides

I think there are some 10m (33ft approx) high tides due over the weekend so if its windy the sea water will be crashing up onto the prom. If you want to venture up to Parkgate then you’ll be able to see the River Dee flood the marsh there and the mammals that live within it run for dry land! Update: High tide on Saturday is around 11.30 – see BBC for details.

Pebbles Cafe

I can’t see the old toilet block on the prom being converted into a cafe by “early spring 2011” as the sign says. If you know any more about the current status of this proposed project please leave a comment below.
