This week Hoylake is hosting the 2011 European Land Yachting Championships.
The event was last held in Hoylake in 2007 (as pictured) and attracts land yachting racing teams from the UK and several European countries. The event runs from today, Monday 5th September until Friday 9th.
Do take care if you are out on the beach. Access routes for the yachts should be clearly marked with flags. The yachts are raced out on the sandbank and are either pushed or towed back to the prom when racing has finished for the day.
Also, keep an eye on the new webcam that has been installed at Hoylake Lifeboat Museum. Note the refresh was somewhat delayed for me when I viewed it earlier.
For further information visit Wirral Sand Yacht Club.
Kite Buggies : 5th – 9th Sept , Landyachts : 17th – 23rd Sept .
Thanks Stu – I thought the dates were confusing.
Not been the driest of weeks for the competitors but plenty of wind about! I gather that the first day of racing was delayed by rain.
pretty crappy start day on sunday, not much wind…but I got a couple of decent shots…

we had some great action out there on the beach by the end of the weeks racing
Hoylake is looking good at present and is certainly going forward with exciting new ideas.
A full Hall on Monday would be great
Please tell me where I can find the actual results of the standard land yachts.
