While many of us would like to see some sunshine, these chaps got the weather conditions they needed …wind!
The six sand yachters, one towing the other five, were off out to the sand bank this afternoon for some speedy fun in the wind. I trust that they don’t mind getting wet, because when I spotted them later at around 5.15pm it was absolutely pouring down.
The yachters meet in the car park of the Community Centre and then make their way out to the sand bank, getting on the beach via the slipway next to the model boating lake. Some of them do walk, pulling their yachts along the sand, though these chaps evidently found a less strenuous way!
That day we at the sand yacht club were intending to be out all night for our usual annual 24 hour Endurance Challenge, raising money for charity.
The weather unfortunately was so awful that after an afternoon and evening of extremely variable weather including periods of monsoon like rain and storm force winds we gave up at 9pm and came back in.
We still had “FUN” though.
