Hoylake Village Life present the second of the Saturday morning films with the screening of James and the Giant Peach on 24 November. HVL member Mark Howard said: “We are pleased to be able to make this a free event this time and hope that many children will take advantage of this truly local amenity. As a parent, having a couple of hours free while the kids watch a film is very welcome. We have a team of CRB-checked childminders on hand so parents/carers can, if they wish, drop their children at the cinema and then collect them after the film. Parents may, of course, stay with their children to enjoy the film. Our coffee shop will be selling soft drinks and healthy homemade snacks from 10.00 am; the film starts at 10.30 am.â€
The film is based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name. James’s happy life at the English seaside is suddenly ended when his parents are killed and he has to go and live with his two horrid aunts. Daringly saving the life of a spider he comes into possession of magic boiled crocodile tongues, after which an enormous peach starts to grow in the garden. Venturing inside he meets not only the spider but also a number of new friends including a ladybug and a centipede who help him with his plan to try and get to New York.

Children aged 5-14 may be left with CRB-checked childminders, but late arriving parents/carers may be requested to stay, depending on numbers. Early booking is advised.
