Christmas Tree Festival

The festive season in Hoylake will start with a big switch-on at St Hildeburgh’s third annual Christmas Tree Festival – bigger and better than ever with more than 30 decorated trees in the beautiful church – on Friday, December 7, at 7.30pm.

The switch-on, by the child who wins a tree-decoration competition at the town’s Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School will launch a festival weekend, with music throughout – carol-singing to Wirral Ukulele Orchestra, songs by Holy Trinity School pupils and Hoylake Choral Society and a seasonal singalong led by guitarist Brian Lupton and Friends. There will be wine and mince pies, visits from Santa Claus on both Saturday and Sunday and a Christmas market.

Visitors will receive tickets (£2 for adults, free to children) and use them to vote for their favourite tree in three categories – most original, most fun and most elegant. The festival will finish with a traditional Christingle service at 4pm on Sunday. December 9.
Festival proceeds will be shared between St Hildeburgh’s and a number of charities

The full weekend programme is on the church’s website at www.sthildeburgh.org.
