Exactly a year ago a large private property that was nearing a complete renovation programme was severely damaged by a fire caused by a lightning strike. You can see more of the photos that I took on 7th December last year here.
For some weeks the house was left without a roof and was obviously open to the elements. A temporary roof and scaffolding was installed as renovation works started again early this year. You can see a near completed new roof underneath the temporary one in this photo:
And this is what the property looked liked this morning:
And the rear of the property now looks like this:
Presumably the house is still some way off from completion but well done to all concerned for having the determination to do it all again.
I have watched the Restoration with eager eyes and am delighted, like you, that this lovely house has been restored.
Well Done to everyone concerned.

When Oh When is someone going to sort out the BIstro Hotel??
What a Blot on the Landscape in such a lovely part of Hoylake.
Surely something can be done even if it is only to tidy it up.
Agreed on both counts!
On the same night that this house suffered a lightning strike so did our Hoylake home, at first we did not realise that we had been hit but just knew that the thunder was close! The first thing we noticed when we got up in the morning was that the lights had tripped then we started to notice that some of the electrical items in the house were not working, the TV, telephones, PC and the shower pump to name a few. It took us a few days to tally up all of the defective equipment and to see the damage to the apex of the roof. I remember we went out for a walk when it stopped raining feeling sorry for ourselves for our loss until we saw the devastation of Redcroft and realised what could of happened and actually how lucky we had been!
I won’t ever forget that BOOM in the night. I thought our windows were coming in.
The night of the storm our house was also hit. Fortunately the only damage was a toasted internet router and the PC’s network card. It cost around £100 for replacements.
