over 30

In my entirely unscientific way of monitoring the Hoylake climate with one of my favourite gadgets, I’d like to suggest that today was the hottest day of the year so far. At least in my back garden!

My plastic, less-than-a-tenner min-max thermometer went over the significant 30C mark this morning. I suspect that reading is not super-accurate and the thermometer is in the morning sunshine. But still, that’s the first time this year I’ve seen it go over 30C. The minimum reading of approx 7C was some time ago, March maybe.

Has anyone else been keeping an eye on a thermometer? I bet it’s been ridiculously hot inside greenhouses in the last week or so.

Aside from the data from the Hilbre Island weather station does anyone know if there are any historic weather records for Hoylake?

My office is in an old farm building and I baked at 29 degrees in the shade in Meols today

Pretty accurate. I recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6 C at Ness Gardens Weather station on 19th April. This was indeed the hottest day of the year locally so far. I have full sets of all weather data from 1878 onwards fom Ness and Bidston
