For some reason there’s a plate nailed to a tree outside the Hoose Court redevelopment on Market Street? Is it there for a joke? A protest statement? Was it from the Festival of Firsts and I’ve just not noticed it before? Anyone know why it’s there?
There are also some new railings being erected around the perimeter of the development. I quite like them myself but what do you think of them?
And for those of you who aren’t local, this is what the new building (one of Hoylake’s larger) currently looks like:
I can’t say I like it that much myself – you?
Hoose court railings??? Are they to keep the new residents in or the locals out ?? Not liking them myself
Well presumably the railings are to protect the new residents from the road traffic after all the new flats are 2 bed roomed which I assume will mean families will live there instead of the elderly residents displaced by the demolition. It will be interesting to see how the new residents will alter the population mix in Hoylake.
As for the appearance of the flats themselves who on earth thought this was an attractive design? Had hoped the block work was breeze locks ready for render but now looks to be a feature. We now have eyesores at each end of Hoylake.
Perhaps the plate is there to represent the trees and green space that have been lost through this development?
I think the building is absolutely hideous and is way too big and out of character with it’s surroundings.
What were Wirral Council thinking of?!
If only residents could properly influence developments in Hoylake it would be a very different place to live.
The council did have some only some form of consultation for locals, they set up a table and clip boards but very few people bothered to offer their opinion, suppose they couldn’t be bothered to do any further research. It is a hideous building, its supposed to mirror the building that replaces horn arcade and Lino’s in height and design,!!!!!
Ugliness is truth
And truth Ugliness
Welcome to Greed
And to the 21st Century…..
We are betrayed by our elected representatives.
A tribe with no majority mandate,
Who are there because we cannot be bothered to take them on.
The shame is on us.
We stand and watch but do little but whinge whilst the corruption of degeneration continues.
Every year it gets worse.
Every year the political parties tighten their grip.
And little is done by the PEOPLE
The railings are alright, I don’t like the view behind them though
I see that there is also a plate attached to the poem and art work at the end of The Row.
Yes the plates on trees were part of Hoylakes Festival of Firsts, more plates were fixed to the trees in front of the row shops, I think the hoose court one survived so long because it was fenced off 🙂
