Many thanks to Alan Smith (Hoylake Coastguard) for sending me this photo of a green tractor well and truly stuck in the mud on the shore at Meols. As you can see it was being dug out last Monday evening by a JCB.
A few people have asked me what the “new road” is for at the top of Meols stretch close to Carr Farm. The ‘road’ is nothing to do with a new housing estate in fact its the route of the new Western Link high voltage power cable.
I first mentioned this cable on my little Meols blog when the proposed landfall location was at Meols. The cable now comes ashore at Leasowe and from there it makes its way across, sorry under, the length of Wirral (here’s a map of the route) and onto Deeside.
There’s plenty of activity down on the shore toward Leasowe at the moment – worth a walk or a bike ride along the embankment for a nose.
