Friday Photo: Church trees

tree-1

It’s autumn of course and the trees are slowly dropping their leaves. While Hoylake might quite not match say Boston, USA for autumnal foliage, there are some lovely colours to enjoy right now.

I walked past St Hildeburgh’s at the top of Stanley Road and took photos (above and below) of the trees on the adjacent pavement. That gave me the thought to see what the trees are like by some of the other churches.

The one below is a tree by Hoylake Chapel, still looking quite green.

There’s a row of smaller trees along Market Street by St Luke’s and they’re starting to turn a nice shade of red (below).

This one (below) outside the Evangelical Church is a beauty with all-red leaves. tree-4

This one, just around the corner in Hoyle Road, is a real stunner:

And if you haven’t guessed, I’ve no idea what species of trees these all are! Can you enlighten me (leave a comment if you can)?

I totally agree with you these trees are magnificent. I especially love the red ones in Hoyle Road outside the flats that a friend of mine lives in. Sorry not sure what trees they are but, like you, I would love to know. I can only guess but would prefer to be told.

The last photo is almost certainly a sugar maple which is pretty much the Canadian national tree. (It’s on our flag). I Quebec at this time of year the displays of these trees are truly spectacular.
