Red Rocks Beer

red rocks beerDid you know that a Wirral brewery has named one of its beers after a popular Hoylake landmark?

Well as you can see from the image, Birkenhead independent brewery Betwixt has a beer called Red Rocks. Apparently its a strong, ruby ale whose…

red colour and rich malt flavours come from the use of caramelised rye, which are balanced with the fruity overtones from ‘Bramling Cross’ hops.

Down the hatch!

    Hi John,

sorry for the slow response – we’re busy brewing & delivering, so we shouldn’t complain about it :~)

Thanks for the mention – in Hoylake we’re fairly regularly selling Red Rocks & our other beers in The Ship (Market Street), Hoylake Lights (Wetherspoon’s, Market Street) & have just delivered some Sunlight to the Plasterers (Back Seaview Road).

We chose the name Red Rocks as we wanted a local connection that also somehow fitted the type of beer (a rich ruby ale) – likewise we have a (year-round) summer-style golden beer called ‘Sunlight’ & a copper-coloured bitter that pays homage to the Liverpool waterfront – called ‘Skyline’.
(the business name comes from Hilda Gamlin’s 1890s historical guide to The Wirral – “Twixt Mersey & Dee”

Did you try the Red Rocks?

    Cheers
