Some of you will recall the former Leas School on Meols Drive that was demolished several years ago with the site redeveloped as upmarket housing.
After scouring the web for a good photo, I’ve managed to find several that have been published by David Bevin over on Friends Reunited. I think I’m correct in suggesting that the proposed redevelopment of the site was a long drawn-out process?
According to this site, during WWII the pupils at The Leas were relocated to the Lake District and the building was occupied by the RAF.
Is anyone able to comment on when the building was demolished?
Trivia: Mike Rutherford, guitarist with rock band Genesis, was a boarder at The Leas.
