Wirral West MP Stephen Hesford has announced that he is to step down for family reasons at the next general election due to take place later this year. This news comes in the week when it was suggested that over 22,000 Wirral West constituents received a questionnaire (via 2nd class post; 30p x 22,000 = £6,600)  in the last week in order that the MP’s office could conduct a performance survey.
The Wirral Globe reports that 61 year old Linda Jones was found dead at her home in Carr Lane last Friday. The police are appealing for any relatives to contact them. There are no suspicious circumstances. Any next of kin, or anyone who knows of their whereabouts, is asked to call Wirral Coroner’s Office on (0151) 625 2207 or 625 5042.
The decorators have been back in Meols Parade Gardens, re-staining the wooden benches and picnic tables. If they have now finished, somebody needs to come back and remove the temporary barriers that have been left behind.
The recent icy weather has affected some walls, including the sea wall. Some brick faces on garden walls have cracked off  and if you walk along the promenade toward Meols you can see that some small areas of the sea wall have cracked off causing minor damage.
I understand that St Hildeburghs church is to undergo some restoration work over the coming months, mainly to the outside of the building.
Have you seen the young man riding a modern equivalent of a Penny Farthing bicycle? Coupled with the two teenagers who were riding their unicycles on the promenade last year, Hoylake is becoming the place for unusual cycling!
What else is happening in Hoylake at the moment? Feel free to share your news in a comment below or get in touch.
Hi There
I saw the young guy on his ‘Penny Farthing’ the other morning, quite early on…I think he must have been doing a paper round or maybe just out for some early exercise.
I had to do a double take!!
So what you’re saying is… this is all a conspiracy of some kind? Has the local MP resigned having murdered the lady in Carr Lane, and escaped by Penny Farthing, causing minor damage to the promenade in the process? Is the re-staining of picnic tables and restoration to St Hildeburgh’s some kind of cover-up?
I think we need an enquiry.
You never know 🙂
