Following the news of the closure of the HSBC branch in Market Street a public meeting has been organised to discuss what the alternatives are.
Derek French has also suggested that there is the The Campaign for Community Banking Services (website) that exists to help communities fight bank closures.

The meeting on Thursday 13 January 2011 at 7pm in Melrose Hall will be addressed by Barclays, Lloyds, Santander, The Post Office and Britannia a subsidary of th Co-Operative Bank . The five groups will give a short presentation and then be available to speak to individuals and bussiness cilent indiviually.
Unfortunatly HSBC have declined the offer to attend and I will give an update on the conversations that I have had with Mr Adam Tosh the regional manager.
