Tennis court site sold

st lukes tennis court site

The former St Luke’s tennis courts site in Charles Road (behind The Row/Co-op car park) that was put up for sale earlier in the summer has now been sold according to Rightmove.

The site comes with outline planning consent for 4 linked 2-storey houses and 10 self-contained apartments (8 2-bedroom and 2 1-bedroom) (three apartments to be affordable). See this post for some background information. The decision to close the tennis club and build on the site has not been popular with some locals as these comments indicate.

It has been reported that the Managing Trustees of St Luke’s Methodist Church (the church owned the tennis courts) are to donate £40,000 for improvements to the existing tennis courts in Meols Parade Gardens.

With outline planning permission already granted, presumably it won’t be too long before full planning consent is applied for and building works commence?
