One of my direct ancestors….Joseph Hughes, lost his life in 1810 in the Hoylake Lifeboat disaster which occured around Christmas Eve . He , his brother , Richard , and a teenage son of Richard , and members of the Bird family , all lost their lives. Joseph left behind a widow who was Margaret Barlow Hughes.
