Many thanks to Peter Bond for sending me the above photo taken at St Luke’s Church, Hoylake during the recent Festival of Firsts. (sorry I don’t know who everyone is!)
The Wirral Ukulele Orchestra, which has quite a strong following, has strong links to Hoylake as the players rehearse regularly at Vanilla Lounge. Formed in early 2011 by former West Kirby resident Jon Bloor, the Uke Orchestra is open to ukulele players of all abilities and plays at various events across Wirral. If you fancy joining get in touch via their website.
I’m glad it’s abbreviated to “ukes” as ukulele is such a devil of a word to type correctly first time!
