Friday Photo: On her soapbox

The Hoylake shore has been pretty much iced-up all week but back on Bank Holiday Monday, August 1909 it was jam packed with a woman on her soapbox engaging a captive audience. Many thanks to Syd Bird for the image that was copied from a glass plate negative.

Although it could have been the fashion of the time, I wonder if the weather wasn’t too great as many of the people look reasonably well wrapped-up.

I wonder what the soapbox lady was talking about?
