Many thanks to Graham Price for sending an old image of North Parade with Hoyle Road slipway and the water fountain clearly in view. Graham says that the postage stamp is franked with a date in 1911 but I’m guessing that the shot was taken before 1909 when Hoyle Parade school was constructed. Of course, you don’t see boats moored off Hoylake any more – you have to go down to Meols to see that today. Meols Parade Gardens hadn’t been constructed either by the looks.
On a slightly related note, does anyone know when and why North Parade was made a one way road?
oh, Happy New Year too!
