What a fascinating photo. Not seen that before. Is this not the first Hoylake baths which were replaced by the much more modern pool in the ’30s?
Peter – quite right it is the first baths, and having looked at the sequence of photo’s I’ve got, (with apologies to John for mis-informing him about the date), it’s the 1920′s not the 1930′s. The baths were re-built in the late 1920′s so this was probably my grandfather rather than my father who took the picture.
They both look like swimming pools not paddling pools. Maybe one pool was for ladies and another for gentlemen.
