Hoylake travel agency folds

travel sanctuary

Market Street based travel agency Travel Sanctuary Operations Ltd has ceased trading today ABTA reports. The business has ceased trading from 23 September, 2010 and  is unable to meet its liabilities. The company website is still currently online however. Travel Sanctuary trades as part of the Exotic Travel Group.

The agency, which specialised in long-haul holidays, reportedly resigned from its ABTA membership on 13 September and had 45 forward bookings. The ABTA claims period will close on 23/03/11. All claims and supporting documentation must be received prior to this date.

I’ve walked past recently during the daytime and I did wonder if the place had closed. Has anyone made any outstanding travel arrangements with them?

That was Bentley’s newsagent and sub post office when I was a kid in the 50s. I set up my first savings account there, I think I got it up to five pounds.
You could buy savings stamps, Prince Charles was 5 bob, Princess Anne was only half a crown (25p and 12.5p in todays terms)..
It was a hive of industry when the evening Liverpool Echo was delivered (sorry- thrown out of a moving van!) and the paper boys and girls went out delivering the papers.

I have booked a number of holidays with Jeanette who was the owner of this business, so I’m very sad that in these difficult times she has been unable to make things work. I suppose I’m one of the forward bookings that may be effected by the closure as we have a holiday booked departing in November, however yesterday I received all of my documentation which appears to be intact and correct we were a little surprised that it arrived so early, but now I realise why.
