Ken says of his work…
I was born in Hoylake and am a self taught artist. I’ve always been interested in painting but never really had the time to do so due to work commitments in the UK and abroad.
In 1995 I took early retirement and after attending Nigel Morris’s art class at the old Parade school in Hoylake I picked up my brushes and started painting. Trying various mediums, I settled for oil which I still use to this day.
My paintings vary, but usually figurative/landscape / and are of local scenes in and around Wirral which include Hilbre Island, Royal Liverpool Golf Links, Lady of Hilbre life boat at sea, The Dee estuary, Grange hill etc.
Much of my work now is commissioned but I still exhibit various pieces whenever I can. I have exhibited with various art groups over the years and have also exhibited my works in individual Art galleries throughout the Wirral.
I regularly exhibit in the Spring exhibition at the Williamson art gallery, Slatey Road, Birkenhead and am proud to say I have sold through there.
Five of my golf paintings have sold at auction in Bonhams of Chester and I have been asked to produce two paintings for the Women’s open at Hoylake in 2014.
Some of my sold paintings are in USA, Japan, South Africa and Australia and were bought by ex pats who wanted some reminders of the Wirral.
