News Roundup: 5th January 2011

HSBC

I have already mentioned the forthcoming public meeting about the closure of the HSBC branch.

Boxing Day Tug O’ War

Due to the ice covered beach the annual Boxing Day tug ‘o war between Hoylake Sailing Club and Hoylake RNLI was cancelled.

Promenade Pavement

The pavement just past the Sandhey slipway has cracked and has risen, presumably due to the freezing conditions.

Bins

Hoylake residents should by now have had both their green and grey bins finally emptied and collections should be back on the published timetable. [UPDATE 6th Jan] It seems that not all residents have had their bins emptied – do leave a comment below if you’re still having problems with rubbish.

Weather

I regret not getting a min-max thermometer now to see how cold it got in our back garden! I’ve heard that it went down to -13 according to one residents thermometer. Have you seen any unusual side effects of the coldest December on record? Pot holes tend to be a problem after freezing temperatures – if you see any problem areas on Hoylake roads you can always report them online at fixmystreet.
