A while ago I posted a request from a relative after information about J Cowin, an old Hoylake chimney sweep. Well, thanks to Bernie who sent me some extracts from an old Hoylake directory (1923 I think) confirming that JJ Cowin were at 96 Market Street.
I met with Pat Ireland this morning for an hour. Pat has passed onto me an old map that I’m looking forward to studying over the weekend along with a copy of an old Hoylake and West Kirby directory. By the way, Pat is the person you need to talk to if you need tickets for the Parade School reunion.
You know that big old building at the bottom of Trinity Road next to Checkpoint garage (it’s currently a funny shade of purple) – well, what was it and what is it used for now?
After another windy week there’s plenty of sand on the promenade again – does anybody else agree with me that windblown sand is going to become more of a problem?
Just two days after mentioning the orphaned elastic bands I found a small pile of them earlier today – 11 in total !
Expect to see lots of walkers down on the front this Sunday as it’s the annual Wirral Coastal Walk.
