Woman hit by train at Melrose crossing dies

A woman has died in hospital after being hit by a train at the unmanned Melrose crossing this morning.

Initially there were reports on Twitter of delays on the Wirral Line and a report on the Wirral News confirms the incident.

I last reported a fatality on the line at Hoylake in November, 2009.
