The plans for both the Kings Gap Hotel redevelopment (to become a Holiday Inn) and the boutique hotel on Meols Drive have been approved by Wirral Council.
Whilst the planning section on the council website isn’t crystal clear (to me at least) the Liverpool Daily Post is also reporting the plans have been approved.
Great news for Hoylake. At last we get sensible decisions.
Thank goodness, finally we are encouraging some investment to Hoylake.
There seems to be a whole lot of not much going on at the Hotel in terms of redevelopment / renovation work (certainly nothing that’s visible from the outside). I wonder if the project has stalled?
I don’t think it’s stalled – though you never know I suppose.
There are a couple of containers in situ in the rear carpark and the place is now closed of course – that gives the impression that something might be happening soon.
I think redevelopment was scheduled to start pretty much around “now” so if nothing happens soon maybe the project is stalled?
There are definitely signs of a bit of activity now – I even saw a man in a hard-hat carrying a hammer…
No sign of any activity here for months now (in stark contrast to the ongoing work at the ‘Royal Hilbre Boutique Hotel & Spa Hoylake’ (bit of an unmanageable mouthful that – wouldn’t fancy answering the phone there!).
I believe completion of renovation work at the King’s Gap Court was initially projected as being due in the second quarter of 2011. I can’t see that happening now.
