New Trees At Quadrant

hoylake trees
Some new trees were planted at The Quadrant last Friday outside the HSBC bank. I’m guessing that they’re a type of cherry tree – but don’t quote me on that!

[Update] Regular contributor Jackie informs me that these trees replace ones initially planted (incorrectly) for the Open Golf in 2006 which died.

Good stuff anyway, I think trees are great and these are a worthy addition to Market Street. I’d read an article a while back about the dramatic decline in the number of urban trees which is such a shame. Trees are not only attractive but they help clean the air etc and are a calming influence – we should have more.

By the way, Market Street is looking fantastic at the moment with hundreds of daffodils in full bloom and all the other colourful spring flowers in the tubs and borders along the road. The Ship Inn always make an effort too and they have some flowering tubs outside.

Full credit to all involved including the Hoylake In Bloom team.

Fantastic to see Hoylake looking so beautiful, it shows what can be done with some will, imagination and cash.

I wonder if / when the so called ‘station gateway’ and promenade projects will get a makeover plus how about the rest of Market St and Birkenhead Road?
