Hoylake 10K 2009

There’s still time to register for the 2009 Hoylake 10K fun run and help raise funds for the Wednesday Special Needs Club that’s based at Hoylake Community Centre.

This years event starts at 11.00 am on Sunday 13th September. I’ll be taking part again – this’ll be my 5th one I think – and I’ll be aiming for a time under 45 mins. The event is open to all ages (15 or over) and abilities.

It’s pretty much a straight out and back route, starting on the prom by the model boating lake and out to Leasowe Castle where you turn around and run for home.

Entry is £7 for which you’ll receive a commemorative t-shirt and certificate. Deadline for postal entries is Friday, September 4th. Call Carla on (0151) 625 9505 or see this page for more information.

Rumours Of Open Golf Return For 2014

According to the Daily Mail the Open Golf Championship is coming back to Hoylake’s Royal Liverpool in 2014. Let’s hope someone schedules the fantastic weather again – summer, 2006 was glorious!

Land Yachting or Sand Yachting

You say land yachting, I say sand yachting! Never quite sure what to call it but our local club seems to call it the latter (I actually own the domain name sandyachting.net but haven’t got around to doing anything with it yet!). From what I gather the Hoylake sandbanks are ideal for sandyachting and the wind will usually help of course!

Bit disappointed with this photo of K700 – it’s not quite in focus. Photography lessons are very much needed I fear. When I find the time I’ll post some of the photos from last years, Hoylake hosted sandyachting Euro championships – I’ve got a few good ones.

Para Karting and Towing

I mentioned the para karting the other day – I managed to get this photo of a chap towing some kit out behind a quad bike.
