Stars’ Support for Hoylake Cinema!
Screening of It’s a Wonderful Life
Sunday 18 December
Doors open at 4:30 pm; film starts at 5:30 pm
The Parade, Hoylake Community Centre, Hoyle Road, Hoylake
Local residents are celebrating the launch of Hoylake Community Cinema, and Hoylake’s famous celebrities are fully behind it.
After the success of the first two films, Nowhere Boy and Regeneration, community group Hoylake Village Life have put together a programme of films to be shown every month. The launch of Hoylake Community Cinema has been endorsed by James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, who said ‘Congratulations. What a wonderful thing. Good luck with everything. Much love’. Acting legend Glenda Jackson was also fully behind the idea, ‘I remember when there was a cinema in every town…so I was thrilled to hear about this wonderful new community cinema run by volunteers in my much loved home town of Hoylake.’
The programme of classic and independent films continues with a screening of It’s a Wonderful Life at The Parade, Hoylake Community Centre, on Sunday 18 December. Group member John Hall said, ‘This is a truly wonderful film and we are giving families the chance to experience this, the ultimate Christmas feel-good movie, on a large screen in a true community atmosphere.’ John went on to say, ‘After Regeneration, everyone wanted to know what our next film would be, and the response to It’s a Wonderful Life was overwhelming, so we are expecting a full house.’
Vaughan Williams, Chairman of The Parade, Hoylake Community Centre, said ‘The enthusiasm and encouragement shown by the audiences at the first two film nights proves there is a strong demand for the return of cinema to Hoylake, and we are fully behind the Hoylake Community Cinema initiative.’
It’s a Wonderful Life starts at the earlier time of 5.30 pm, but doors open at 4.30 pm so that the audience can enjoy mulled wine and mince pies before the film begins. HVL hope that some of the audience will stay after the film to have a drink and a chat with group members. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Urbane on The Row, The Parade, online at www.hoylakevillage.org.uk and on the door. However, numbers are limited, so advanced booking is advised.
Tickets for It’s A Wonderful Life tomorrow have SOLD OUT. A big thanks to Hoylake Junction and everyone else in the community who have helped to publicise the event. Sorry to those who wanted to go but haven’t got tickets.
