Hoylake RNLI: 2012 launches

Hoylake Lifeboat StationThe RNLI have made available the 2012 launch statistics for the whole UK service and kindly sent me the figures for our local RNLI stations.

The all-weather lifeboat (ALB) at Hoylake (station pictured – website) was launched three times during 2012, all three during the hours of darkness (RNLI terminology). One person was recorded as rescued.

The inshore lifeboat (ILB – website) at West Kirby was launched 18 times, four of which were during the hours of darkness. Eighteen people were rescued including seven under-18s.

At New Brighton RNLI there were a total of 42 launches; consisting of 34 ILB launches and 8 launches of the inshore rescue hovercraft (IRH). Eighteen launches occurred during the hours of darkness. The boat was used to rescue 12 people and the hovercraft for 6 people.
