As today is Armistice Day I thought I’d publish a couple of related links for you.
Firstly, the photo pictured is a copy taken from the Carl’s Cam website. On that page you’ll find information about the memorial plaques in St Hildeburghs church – some of which came from the Hoylake Parish church that we discussed the other week.
Secondly, Matt Thomas is a West Kirby based freelance photographer who has published some photographs taken at this years Remembrance Service at the Memorial in West Kirby. Matt  has published some interesting information about a gentleman that you may well know or are aware of.

Some very good photos on Matt Thomas’s site.
It’s worth noting that the full name of the memorial on Grange Hill is the Hoylake & West Kirby War Memorial built by the Hoylake UDC. Interesting information available on http://pmsa.cch.kcl.ac.uk/LL/MSWR0070.htm

Hi Peter,
It is also worth noting that Hoylake UDC were instrumental in adopting a “V” class Destroyer –
HMS Verdun in “Warship Week” 1942 . This ship became World famous when it carried the “Unknown Warrior”
from France to England (in time for November 11,1920).
The idea for the “Unknown Warrior” originated on Merseyside, and was copied by many other countries.
PS Perhaps John Parr could adopt this “Symbolic” ship for his “Lifeboat Museum” ?

Frederick Cumpsty is on the Memorial the same family you have been talking about in Friday photo of Market Street.
