As much of the country appears to be having great difficulties with snow here in Hoylake we’ve hardly had a flake. There’s been a slight covering, a bit of hail and even some thunder and lightening. There is ice about though and it’s slippery of course. Pictured above is Trinity Road taken this lunchtime with shiny patches of black ice on the road.
Another photo (below) from the Syd Bird archive taken some years ago – about 120 years ago actually – from a very similar spot does include a bit more snow. Trinity Road was then called Church Road (due to a church being in the road) and now has more houses than it did back then. It looks like the smaller entrance to the cemetery has been moved a little too over the years. Is that dorma bungalow property the same one do you think?
The met office are forecasting snow for the North West and I have just seen a tweet saying it is snowing in Port Sunlight… so maybe there is more to come. Hope not really as it is bad enough on the ungritted roads already – sheets of ice in places.
