Labour win Wirral West

vote labour

Margaret Greenwood (Labour) won the Wirral West constituency in the general election last, pipping Esther McVey (Conservative) to the seat by just over 400 votes. The marginal seat was hard-fought with campaign teams still knocking on doors and telephoning into the early evening of polling day.

McVey has said that she still wants to be an MP – whether that is here in Wirral West or elsewhere remains to be seen.

In the local council election, Gerry Ellis (CON) retained his seat.

The sticker on the pavement outside the temporary Labour office on Birkenhead Road caught my eye this morning!
