Chas E Price Closes

March 3, 2009 by John · 3 Comments

Chas E Price
One of Hoylake’s oldest shops has closed. Small electricals shop Chas E Price is no longer trading and according to the notice in the window Island Electrics is opening there on 1st April (I presume it’s no April Fool!)

I don’t know why the shop has closed, it could be for personal reasons rather than financial ones (update: I gather it’s due to retirement). At least in this instance the premises are soon to reopen -there’s already a few empty premises at that end of Market Street.

By the way, I happened to notice that the small florists shop named Gloriosa in the Quadrant also closed at the end of January.

Price’s electrical shop closed after 108 years in the same family as the fourth generation of the family did not want to take it on. It’s still an incredible record!
