Many thanks to Dave Cowderoy for sending me this 1970 press cutting about a fire at the old Hough’s Timber yard. You’ll recall that we had a good discussion about Hough’s in this post.
And by chance, yesterday I received this photo taken by Syd Bird of old houses in Hazel Road (off Chapel Road). The houses were demolished to make way for the Hoose Court buildings but you can see Hough’s yard behind them and to the left you can make out the old Hoylake YMCA.
