Friday Photo: Fact Or Folly

bollardsA question for you on this Friday 13th! Are these bollards fact or folly? You’ll see them in a garden of a house facing the shore past Kings Gap. Do you call them bollards or stanchions or something else?

Were they once used to tie ropes around for boats mooring in the sea years ago? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

As far as I can find out (much internet searching) they are called Stanchions. Used to tie boats to safely whilst moored.

These ones are not originals but were added some years ago for purposes of ornamentation.
