Further to the news about the missing plaque I can confirm that it has been removed by person or persons unknown.
The council will commission a replacement that is to be more securely fixed to the plinth. This will happen early next year – partly in the hope (unlikely I suspect) that the plaque will be returned and also to avoid the possibility of a replacement being given some unwelcome attention over the Christmas holidays.
